SETTING INTENTIONS AFTER A GREAT SUMMER
Whether you’re back to work after a well-deserved summer and Labor Day weekend or are still enjoying the last few days of your holidays, this week is the perfect time to set intentions and refocus your energy on what’s most important to you. The pic that I chose for this blog reminds me of the vibrant summer I’ve had and all the delicious and healthy food I’ve savored with hubby and friends, yum! Find your pic and do this:1. Set aside some me-time to think about what will make you healthier this month, both physically and emotionally.
2. Write down 3 intentions (or less if you want to be more realistic) and the one thing you need to do for each to get super organized and make them happen.
3. Commit to them and at the same time allow yourself to adjust your goals and expectations as you go through the month. Life (and other stuff!) happens so don’t be too hard on yourself if you can’t achieve them 100%.
Want to know MY INTENTIONS for September? I love sharing them as there is a higher chance I’ll commit to them if you hold me accountable! Here they are:
1. COMMIT TO A 100% GLUTEN AND DAIRY-FREE DIET.
I’ve been a “little” relaxed about this during the summer, and now it’s time to get back to it!
As I'm traveling to Europe next month, I want to detox as much as possible now so I can surrender, guilt-free, to what makes my heart beat: manchego cheese and jamón serrano in Spain, Bordeaux wine in the Dordogne and a good old home-made curry and afternoon tea with freshly made scones in London...aaaahhhhhh!
Europe has much stricter food safety regulations than the US so I am not too worried about making some exceptions! It amazes me that I can eat foods with gluten and dairy and non-certified organic produce without feeling bloated, tired or having hot flashes when I’m there. And I am not alone. A whole bunch of us women feels the same way. You don’t always need a research study to tell you which foods are good or bad for you!

2. STOP EATING AT 4PM, 3 DAYS A WEEK.
This more doable type of "intermittent fasting" works wonders for my clients and I want to give it a try more officially! It's a great way to give your belly a break from digesting 24/7 and feel lighter, un-bloated and more energized. This especially works if you have weak digestion and/or don’t visit the bathroom every day.
I’ll be writing more about this soon to help you decide if it’s the right thing to do for you. This is a popular topic that comes with a lot of different opinions and I believe it absolutely works if you adapt it to your specific body type and lifestyle.
3. WALK EVERY DAY BY MY CLOSEST FAVORITE RESETTING PLACE.
What place comes to mind right away for you when feeling a little off-centered? I have a couple of favorite places but the one I know it’s easy to fit into my schedule every day is the Revson Fountain at the Lincoln Center.
If you’re not too familiar with it, it’s like a mini version of the fountains at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas and in my opinion, cozier and more special.
When it was first built in the 60’s, it was the most technologically advanced fountain ever constructed in NY and it represents hope and perseverance. I like hope and I love perseverance!
The sound of the water, in general, makes me feel calm but what’s really special about this particular fountain is the water show. Seeing the water floating in the air for a couple of seconds is very soothing and kind of meditative. It’s also set in a cultural setting, and I love that urban/nature mix.
